First Family of Four Mini-Vaca

We just took our first trip away from home as a family of four - I feel like we deserve a pat on the back because traveling with an infant and a toddler is no easy task! My mom has always told me that once you have more than one kid, packing for a weekend is as hard or harder than packing for a week. You still need all of the same things and then have to turn around and unpack two - three days later! It's a lot of work! BUT....it was worth it! We went to Lake Lure, NC which our good friends Corey, Claire, and baby Sadie. We had a fun weekend catching up and getting to meet each other's babies. Lake Lure is in the mountains about 2 hours from us. We rented a house up on top of a mountain with a gorgeous view. We ventured out a couple of times to eat and also explored the amenities at the Rumbling Bald Resort. Here we let Jackson play on the beach and swim in the pool. Other than that we mostly hung around the house since that was the easiest thing to do with three babies and it was a pretty long drive to most things. The girls enjoyed a little play time together when they weren't napping. Sadly, Annie and Cooper (our labs), were unable to make the trip this time - but it was probably for the better! Here are a few pictures of our weekend together:

This is what the trunk now looks like for a 2-3 day trip.  So. Much. Stuff....

View from the deck of the house we rented.

Sunset picture.

Family pic...right after Livi spit up everywhere! ha

And the Mullen's adorable family picture. Check out Sadie's sweet smile!

Dinner outside...we were a little nervous about eating in this tiny little house/restaurant with all the babies (mostly Jackson - haha) so we moved ourselves out to the picnic table. It was obvious no one ever ate at the table. It was incredibly dirty and on a huge slope, but we were more comfortable outside where we could make as much noise as we liked!

Jackson in the giant rocking chair.

Now with mommy and daddy.

The babes....enjoying a little tummy time. Sadie showing off! haha Boy, what a difference 6 weeks makes!

First of many, many weekend together I hope. Love this precious girls!

And now the big girls enjoying a little girl chat....view out of windows.

We went down to the lake for an afternoon and J-man enjoyed playing on the beach.

The dads enjoying a beer at the kiddy pool!

That smile...

Olivia: 2 Months

Two months already? Part of me feels like time is flying by and the other part like you've been part of our family forever. We love being a family of four and having you here with us. You're such a sweet little girl already! You've changed a lot this month and it's fun to see you grow and develop; although I'm not going to lie, I'm sad that you are getting bigger already. I try to soak up all the cuddles and snuggles I can because I learned from your brother that those won't last forever. Soon you'll be too busy to hold and squeeze. At the two month mark you are:
  • Holding your head better - you like to be held upright and to stand on your legs a little.
  • You are smiling like crazy! You started right at the one month mark but now you do it nearly all your waking hours.
  • You are starting to coo and make sweet little noises. We love hearing your little voice.
  • When am object is placed in your hand you can hold on to it for a while.
  • You are becoming more active and swing your arms and kick your legs during "play time" on the floor.
  • Your swing soothes you and it's your favorite place to sleep during the day. You are also very fond of looking in the mirror on it and watching the birds spin around.
  • You still love the white noise and we use it at night or when you're really upset some still.
  • You are very alert when awake and like to be awake for about an hour between each feeding.
  • You're sleeping great - you tend to go 6-8 hours most nights with a periodic shorter night here and there. You do like to wake up earlier than your brother so mommy is trying to adjust to the earlier mornings. I'm becoming better friends with coffee for sure!
  • You still nap very well during the day, with your longest nap usually in the mid morning till lunch time.
  • You probably eat about six times a day. You're an efficient eater and don't usually nurse for too long. You're still spitting up a bunch but luckily you aren't bothered by it. And you will NOT take a bottle at all!
  • And of course you are still at the top of the charts for height - you were 24" long (97%) and 12 lbs 1 oz (68%). You mostly still wear 0-3 month or 3 month clothing and have started to wear some 3-6 months stuff. You are also still in a size one diaper.
Jackson is really starting to love you. He has asked to hold you a couple of times and is no longer jealous when I'm holding you. He calls you "sissy girl." He loves seeing your eyes open and giving you kisses. He also gets very concerned when you cry. It's the sweetest thing.

We cannot wait to hear more sweet coos and the giggles that are to come in the near future. We also look forward to more interaction between you and Jackson and just love watching you two together. We love you so much sissy girl! Happy two months to you!

What's a girl gotta do to get a little shut eye around here? Hehe

That smile....she started right around turning a month old and right there you can tell it is a real smile. Love it!

She was grinning so big here she was almost laughing!

Pretty girl :)

The first time Jackson said "I hode you sissy?" I had to provide a little support...

Happy girl!

Our first of many big bows!

She's too much...

First time putting a bathing suit on for brothers trip to the pool, and she slept the whole time!
