Eleven Months Old!

Sorry I am behind on my monthly post. We were in Switzerland when Jackson turned 11 months and we just got home Monday evening. Hopefully I will have a post up with lots of gorgeous pictures from our trip in the next few days, so stay tuned!

Onto the 11 month post...

Wow! We are less than a month from celebrating Jackson's first birthday! I'm sure every parent says it, but I cannot believe how quickly the past year (11 months) has gone by. I am saddened by how quickly our sweet boy is growing. We try really hard to soak up each day because he is changing so quickly. I know that I say this each month too, but it really seems that every month the developmental changes occur faster and faster. And a lot sure has changed since my last post! This may be long, but hang in there.

Jackson, I think you get happier every month (if that is even possible). I don't know what we did to deserve such a happy boy, but we sure are grateful to be your parents! You continue to smile and laugh all the time. You never meet a stranger. You are as busy as ever - constantly crawling, standing up, cruising, pulling objects off counters, tables, out of cabinets, etc. You work so hard all of your waking hours! You are doing new things every day and we can see the little wheels turning as you process everything you see. I love watching you learn and grow and am so thankful for how well you are doing!

Here's a summary of all your new milestones:
  • Pulling up/standing - you are doing this as much as crawling now. You love to reach into baskets and pull stuff out or pull everything off a table/shelf.
  • Sitting - you learned to sit down from a standing position really easily. Thankfully we haven't had too many bumps from falling.
  • Cruising - you've started cruising this month and are doing a very good job at it now. We are practicing walking by holding your hands. Sometimes you do okay and other times you just want to jump!
  • Climbing - you try to climb on furniture, stairs, people when you can.
  • Clapping - I've tried for months and could not get you to, but now you are finally clapping. You love to clap and do it at the cutest times.
  • Pointing - you started pointing, sometimes at something you want and sometimes for no reason at all.
  • Playing - you are becoming more playful and try to interact with others in your play. Some new things you are doing are playing peek-a-boo by pulling a bib or blanket over your face and you push trucks or cars around some. Of course, you are still most interested in non-toy objects though!
  • Books - you've developed an obsession with books this month, which is great! You've always liked them - but mostly to chew on. Now you can sit for several minutes just turning pages over and over and over.
  • Language - we've noticed a huge change in language development this month. You understand a lot of words and phrases. You wave whenever you hear the word "bye." You are copying a lot of sounds and words. You've FINALLY started making more "mama" sounds. We can tell that you know who mommy and daddy are, but I am still unsure if you are associating us with those words though.
  • Memory - you do not forget a thing! It is so hard to distract you from something we don't want you to do because you will always go right back, no matter how much time has passed. :)
  • Social - you still have some separation anxiety with mommy, but overall you go to a lot more people and are happy with just about anyone. You continue to love interacting with people in public and are more interested in babies your age too. You also give hugs from time to time which is so sweet.
  • Food - you love to eat and will eat everything! If one of us eats in front of you, you want food too. You're eating all table foods now and tried a lot of new foods this month. New foods that you tried include apricots, blueberries, kiwi, grapes, cherries, green beans, olives, mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumbers, dried beef, beans, deer sausage, and ice cream (you've tried a lot of these foods but as purees).
  • Drinking - you are finally drinking a lot of water and all on your own.
  • Sleep - your sleep patterns pretty much remain the same right now: about 11 hours at night and 2-3 during the day.
  • Teeth - you cut four teeth this past month!
  • Favorites - you like playing with cars, books, Tupperware, and carrying around your clothing. You also still love the animals!

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that is all I can think of now. We may have a walker by next month (I have a feeling when this kid starts walking he will go straight to running!). Only three weeks and two days left until Jackson's birthday (but who's counting?) and I am going to try and savor every minute of it!

And to wrap up the month, here are a few pics:

The month wouldn't be complete without tormenting poor Max.

He also had to take a taste of Cooper. I'm not sure whether this is animal cruelty or his way of loving? ha

We are officially standing in our crib (and chewing on the rail!).

Oh you know, just helping mom with the laundry.

Happy boy eating his breakfast!

Hard at play!

Just hanging out, no big deal. :)

Cheesing in his stroller before his first airplane ride!

On the airplane. Although he did great, he was not a huge fan of the family photo.

Sweet boy sleeping in his big boy Swiss carseat. Too cute.

Happy 11 months my precious little man!
