Swizterland Trip

We had the most amazing trip to Switzerland! We just love to travel and always seemed to be going places pre-baby, so I am very glad that we are still able to travel with baby, whether it be far or short weekend trips. We've had a very busy summer and Jacks has been a trooper through all of it!

To answer the question that everyone has been asking, "How did Jackson do on the trip?" The short answer: he did GREAT!! He was very well behaved on the airplane. This was his first time on a plane so why not make it an eight hour ride, right? HA! Well, he was fabulous on the plane. We first flew to ATL and from there to Zurich. He did sleep a lot on the second leg of the flight since it was over night. However, our flight on the way home was during the day, and he did not sleep much at all. This means holding a very active 11 month old for over 10 hours! We then had a 3 hour lay over and another short flight. We received tons of compliments on how well he behaved and many people were surprised that he did not cry any. He is such a social little guy that he just loved being able to look in every direction and smile at new people. We got sooooo lucky!!

As for the trip and adjusting to the time change, Jackson did well there too. He was a little trooper taking rides around Switzerland or hiking up mountains. He tried several new foods and of course loved all of the cheese. :) This was a trip of many firsts for him. Not only was it his first airplane ride, but his first bus ride, train ride, ferry ride, and gondola ride. He also loved all of the attention from Papa and Margolyn. I'm not sure if Jackson was making the association or not (it seemed like he was!), but he said "bawpa" a lot!

Switzerland is such a beautiful country! Everywhere we drove or hiked had a breathtaking view. We loved getting to visit different villages and towns and were able to do a lot in the time we were there. Of course we ate well too! Margolyn introduced us to a lot of traditional Swiss meals which Jackson enjoyed too. I am very thankful that we were active every day because this kept us from gaining 10 pounds from all of the chocolate, cheese, and bread we ate! I have a hard time remembering the names of all of the places that we visited, but here are some pictures of the gorgeous sights:

Jacks enjoyed some time with his cousin Kylie. She is so good with him.

View from the balcony of Papa and Margolyn's home. I could totally get used to waking up to that every morning. :)

First ride on a carousal!

Papa too! :)

Just a little naked play time in the fountain. No big deal. This guy loved it!

He also enjoyed lots of ice cream - we can no longer eat something without sharing with him. And that means that he gets more than I do.

One of our hikes had these really cool carvings all along the way. There were also people out there carving new statues. We took a picture of this one because it was a lab. :)

Just cows chilling on our hike...this happened a few times!

Probably my favorite sight the entire trip. It is hard to see everything from this picture but there are snow capped mountains in the back, a gorgeous lake below, water falls rushing down the mountain, and gorgeous green grass and blue skies. Just breathtaking!

The trip was so amazing and filled with so many beautiful sights. It is truly humbling to just sit and look at God's beautiful creation. We tried to soak up as much of the beauty as we could! It was also great getting to visit with Papa and Margolyn and getting to see my parents and Kylie for a few days too. Missing it already.
